StarFall Arena · Ship
Specter
Straight through the rock.

What is the Specter?
A phase dash that blinks you through solid cover. The Specter ignores the arena's geometry for an instant, which turns every asteroid from an obstacle into a door nobody else can use.
How do you fly the Specter?
Every rock in the arena is a door only you can open. The dash carries you through solid cover, so the geometry everyone else reads as a wall — the thing they are hiding behind, the thing routing their chase — is a shortcut for you. Use it to enter rather than to escape: the best Specter play is arriving from a direction that had no approach. At eight seconds it is the shortest cooldown of any movement ability in the game, so you can afford to spend it on a fight instead of saving it for a mistake.
How do you beat the Specter?
Stop treating cover as cover. The rock at your back is the one direction a Specter can come from, so fight it in the open, where the dash buys nothing but a short reposition. It is an honest hull otherwise — 85 hull and middling speed — so once the dash is spent you are simply in a fight, and you have eight seconds to make that count.
The StarFall Circuit
Nobody has ever satisfactorily explained the phase gear, only that it was recovered from the fall zone rather than built for it. The prevailing theory in the paddock is that it came off whatever made the debris field in the first place, which would mean the Specter passes through rock because rock is precisely what it was designed to pass through.
How it plays
- Dash passes through obstacles other hulls have to fly around.
- Balanced speed and turn; 85 hull keeps it honest.
- Shortest cooldown of the movement abilities.
